Habanusantara.com, In an effort to enhance traffic awareness and compliance, the Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Aceh Provincial Police installed Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) warning signs at various traffic light intersections in Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

Kombes M. Iqbal Alqudusy, Director of Traffic at the Aceh Provincial Police, emphasized that this initiative is part of their commitment to create a safer and more orderly traffic environment.

“We are continuously striving to increase awareness and compliance among drivers. One tangible step we have taken is installing ETLE warning signs at several traffic lights,” he said.

Iqbal explained that the traffic lights equipped with ETLE warning signs include Simpang Bundaran Lambaro, Simpang PKA, Simpang Jambo Tape, and Simpang Lima.

“We specifically chose these locations due to the high volume of traffic and frequent violations,” he added.

The ETLE warning signs contain several reminders for drivers, including the mandatory use of Indonesian National Standard (SNI) helmets, prohibition of running red lights, and the requirement to wear seat belts.

This initiative aims to serve as a reminder to drivers about the importance of adhering to traffic rules for collective safety.

Furthermore, the installation of ETLE warning signs aims to inform the public that there are ETLE cameras in the area, continuously monitoring and observing motor vehicle drivers.

“The goal is to make the public or drivers aware that there is traffic surveillance that will automatically enforce penalties through ETLE cameras for any violations that occur,” explained Iqbal.

How Does ETLE Work?

To understand further, it’s essential to know how ETLE operates through several stages. Firstly, the device automatically captures traffic violations through monitoring cameras and sends evidence materials.

Secondly, officers identify vehicle data using Electronic Registration & Identification (ERI) as the source of vehicle data.

Subsequently, officers send confirmation letters to the public address of motor vehicles for confirmation requests regarding violations.

If proven, the vehicle owner must confirm via the website or directly visit the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate office.

Lastly, officers issue fines with payment methods via BRIVA for verified violations. Failure of vehicle owners to confirm will result in a temporary vehicle registration suspension.

Through these measures, the Aceh Provincial Police hope to cultivate a more disciplined and safe traffic culture for all citizens.

This initiative aims to reduce accidents and traffic violations while enhancing safety for all road users.[]
